Historic Branch School House

Welcome to the Historic Branch School Project page. The Branch School District #4 was completed in 1863.The school served the district for 98 years, through the Civil War, and closed in 1961.This project will be utilized
• to promote the use of the one room school house
• to encourage participation in Branch School events
• to educate our community about the school
• to celebrate the historical significance this 1900's school building brings to our rural community
• to protect the building and historical artifacts for future generations


The Ingham County Historical Commission has recently designated Branch School as

The Ingham County Historical Commission has recently designated Branch School as an historic building. The dedication ceremony was held at Branch School on May 19, 2024. The ICHC presented a marker sign to the Township which will be installed outside the school building. To learn more about Branch School check out the brochure on the right.
